Project Overview

St. John’s Cemetery in Hamburg, PA, is a historic cemetery committed to honoring those who rest there, including over 800 veterans. We’ve had the privilege of supporting their mission through a variety of services, from website development and cemetery management migration to custom signage and maintenance solutions. This ongoing partnership reflects our ability to deliver tailored digital and physical solutions for unique client needs.

Project Details

We initially built St. John’s Cemetery’s website on Joomla 3, and later migrated and updated it to Joomla 5. The site includes extensive form functionality with conditional fields for tasks such as funeral scheduling, foundation installation orders, and payments via Stripe. To simplify administration, we developed automatic calculations that offset processing and manual invoicing fees, making the ordering and payment process seamless.

In 2017, we facilitated the migration of their Cemetery Information Management System (CIMS) from an outdated desktop environment to CIMS Cloud, securing the preservation and accessibility of critical records. We also curated and updated burial records, verifying and annotating veteran statuses to ensure that the graves of over 800 veterans are accurately documented.

Beyond digital solutions, we provided a comprehensive range of physical and maintenance services. We designed the business logo and manufactured various signage, including cleanup reminders and “clean up after your dog” signs, many of which were 3D printed in-house. We also provided custom CAD design and 3D-printed maintenance parts, such as replacement light fixtures, as well as vinyl logos and lettering for the company vehicles. Additionally, Natural Selection offers contracted caretaking services for the cemetery, covering seasonal mowing, trimming, foundation installation, and grave interment setups.
