Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is coming.
Stripe announced upcoming changes to implement SCA which will be a requirement for EU transactions starting in September 2019. You can read about it here: https://stripe.com/en-US/blog/sca-readiness
Due to these changes they are depreciating the current API that we use in our Stripe payment plugins, requiring us to migrate to the new API.
After evaluating our plugins we have decided:
- We will update the Stripe for RSForm plugin and Stripe for RSMembership plugin. Even though RSJoomla released a version for RSForm, our version has a number of functions/features that are not available in the RSJoomla version. We'll release SCA compliant versions of both plugins before it becomes mandatory for EU users.
- We will discontinue the Stripe for RSEvents plugin. Considering that RSJoomla released their own version and the number of users of our version have dwindled down to almost zero, we see no point expending the resources to overhaul the plugin at this time. Our version will be available until September 2019 and will receive basic updates until then.
